DAILY PRAYER
May we in everything be Christlike and godly; for God is love (1 John 4:8). Conquer our tempers; subdue our passions; rule us in body, soul, and spirit. Make us so to live that, when death shall close our life on earth, heaven itself shall be but a continuance of the same life, because even now we have the beginnings of heaven in the earnest of the Spirit.

“The one who does not love does not know God, because God is love.” (1 John 4:8)
He may be very orthodox, but if he does not love, he does not know God; and if he does not know God, what does he know? There is such a thing as holding the truth in bitterness; but those who know God, and are truly his children, hold the truth in love.
