DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)
Lord, you know us. Will you not look upon your children with that sweetly-searching eye of yours which will see our wants to fulfill them; our desires, to grant them; our sins, to pardon them; our weaknesses, to give us strength equal to our day?
Father, we, being evil, speak to our fathers, and they give us, as their children, what we need. And now we speak to you, and you are not evil, and you will surely give us exceeding abundantly above what we ask or think. You will leave no one without supplies, no grief unassuaged. In fact, we feel perfectly happy when we feel perfectly in the presence of God. We have all we want when we come to you. How am I rich when Christ is mine! To him be the glory, forever and ever.
Amen.
VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)
“Praise the Lord… For his faithful love to us is great.” (Psalm 117:1, 2)
The Lord is kind to us as his creatures, and merciful to us as sinners. This mercy has been very great, or powerful. The mighty grace of God has prevailed even as the waters of the flood prevailed over the earth: breaking over all bounds, it has flowed towards all portions of the multiplied race of man. In Christ Jesus, God has shown mercy mixed with kindness, and that to the very highest degree. We can all join in this grateful acknowledgment, and in the praise which is therefore due.

Enjoy the love of God this summer
In a world full of hatred, selfishness, and anger, it’s easy to forget that God is love. And so we need to always be reminded of this crucial reality from the truth of Scripture.
And Spurgeon is one of the greatest guides there is to understanding and enjoying God’s love.
That’s why I put together a new book, Spurgeon on God’s Love. This book compiles twelve sermons by Spurgeon, all reflecting on the glorious reality of God’s unchanging love.
These sermons have really encouraged me over the last few months and I know that they will encourage you! Plus, buying a copy is a great way to support this ministry, so I can continue to send this newsletter every day.
I hope you’ll grab a copy for yourself (and another one for a friend!) and reflect on God’s love in your summer reading.
