DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)
Now we pray, our Father, by the love of Jesus Christ, that the Spirit of God dwelling in us, may sanctify us unto the service of him who has redeemed us with his precious blood. Take out of us, O God, everything which would grieve his Spirit. Plant in us every fair and lovely thing in which he may take pleasure. May the weeds be taken up by the roots, and may the flowers be watered until they come to a sweet perfection.
Oh, how we long to live Christly lives—such lives in business, in the domestic circle—such lives even upon a sick bed, if you appoint our portion there. Oh, help us, dear Savior, to live as those whose life is hid in you, to whom you have become the life, linking yourself so completely with our personality that we can say “I live, yet not I, but Christ lives in me.”
Amen.
VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)
“I am at rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him.” (Psalm 62:1)
It is a blessed thing to wait only on God. You have proved everything else to be a failure, and now you hang upon the bare arm of God alone. There is certainly enough for us to depend on there. Most people want something to see, something tangible to the senses, to be the object of their confidence, but David rests only in God. His salvation is already on the road. It is coming now. It is a salvation from present trouble and from present temptation. A complete salvation is on the road for all those whose souls are waiting only on God.

How God’s grace helps you grow
Today we prayed that God would help us grow in holiness and set us free from sin. We ask God to help us grow in holiness, because we know that God’s grace doesn’t just save us from sin, it also gives us the power that we need to slay sin. The work of growing in godliness is a work of cooperation between us and God’s grace.
One of my all-time favorite books is The Discipline of Grace by Jerry Bridges. This book explains how God’s grace empowers Christians to slay sin and grow in godliness. It is one of the helpful, practical, and encouraging books that I have ever read! If you want to grow in godliness, start with The Discipline of Grace.
Reading The Discipline of Grace will definitely help you grow in holiness. I hope you’ll grab a copy today.
